1. Why do you want to be mayor?  [a council member?]

I want to continue to help make Louisville an even better, more welcoming small town in which to live, work, do business, and visit. I believe I bring the necessary knowledge, creativity, energy, and proven leadership skills to do that.

2. When was the last time you paid rent, and where was that?  

1989-92 — studio apartment near City Park in Denver

3. Boulder County has experienced extreme natural disasters over the last decade, including flooding and wildfire. How do you plan to address these challenges?

  • Maintain strong intergovernmental relationships 
  • Ensure wildfire mitigation in Open Space & Incentivize homeowners nearby to fire-harden
  • Strengthen our preparedness plans & educate residents about them

4. How do you think you stand out from other candidates?

  • 9 years’ service on Louisville City Council

How would you seek to remove barriers to a thriving Louisville economy?

6. What are your solutions for the growing population of people experiencing homelessness?

  • Increase affordable housing options throughout Boulder County
  • Wraparound services for those who need them

7. What’s your plan for creating more affordable housing in Louisville?

  • Zoning changes & transportation-oriented development near McCaslin
  • Strategic acquisition of residential property & deed restriction
  • Land banking
  • Zoning changes to ensble affordable housing & reach 12% goal we recommended, and Boulder County cities & towns adopted, while I was Louisville’s representative on the County Consortium of Cities

8. How will you address climate change? How do you plan to meet Louisville’s climate goal of zero carbon by 2030? 

  • Transportation-oriented development
  • Encourage multimodal transportation
  • Incentivize businesses & residences to decarbonize

9. What are your goals for transportation and how will you achieve them? 

  • Following & funding our Transportation Master Plan

  • Work with our EDI Manager to seek out input and comment
  • Implement more recommendations of EDI task force

  • Wide reading & doing the work
  • Drawing on ideas gained through wide reading & engagement with BIPOC
  • Systematic development of a pipeline of diverse leaders through boards & commissions
