Megan Sweeney is a local filmmaker and photographer who lives in Louisville and took photos of destroyed homes, firefighters, families and more to document the devastation and recovery following the Marshall Fire. We featured one of her photos on the cover of our Dec. 21 disaster-themed issue. When asked about her inspiration to take the following photos, she says: “It’s important to document and help tell the story of someone else’s experience to the best of our ability. We can imagine what it could be like to walk in someone else’s shoes but photos and videos are truly a powerful tool to help communicate and spread empathy.”
