Danish wrong on guns

I have lived in Colorado for 40 years, 20 in Denver and 20 in Boulder. I surely appreciate the Boulder Weekly especially since we get such poor coverage from the Post and Camera since they were bought out.  Also we don’t get Westword at the grocery stores any more as they do not want to pay anything to simply have Westword available for free.

I always read all the columns; you have great columns and good writers who make interesting points. That includes the Danish column on Yang who is running for President (Re: “Is the world’s most interesting man running for president?” The Danish Plan, August 15, 2019). Interesting and eye-opening. However I didn’t think it was possible for someone as smart as he obviously is to write a dumber or more vile paragraph than his views on gun control. Especially when the country and Colorado are reeling from gun massacres and our children are afraid to go to school. Only the NRA crazies would write such garbage, and of course our even crazier president who just told his dumb base at his rally to remember that it’s not the gun that pulls the trigger. Guns are manufactured for only one reason: to kill.

I hope that Danish will apologize to Boulder Weekly readers for expressing such awful inhumane views on guns in our local paper.

Time for impeachment inquiry

After Mueller’s testimony last week, it’s never been more clear to me: it’s time for Congress to open a formal impeachment inquiry into President Trump. It’s time to put all the evidence out there for the American people. It’s time to hold Trump accountable.

No more excuses. No more delays.

The Mueller investigation found extensive criminal activity committed by Trump and his team. It resulted in 37 indictments and at least seven convictions or guilty pleas, uncovered over 10 instances of obstruction of justice by Trump himself, and revealed over 100 secret meetings and communications between his campaign and Russian and their cronies.

If any other American had obstructed justice as flagrantly as the president has, they’d be going to jail.

Congress needs to step up now, because doing nothing will only embolden Trump to trample over our democratic norms and to keep breaking the law. Doing nothing sets a dangerous precedent for future presidents.

For all of these reasons, it’s time for our representative and the rest of Congress to take action to hold Trump accountable by opening a formal impeachment inquiry now!
