Colorado will receive $10 million from the U.S. Department of Transportation for the U.S. 36 corridor between Denver and Boulder.
The grant, part of the Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER), will go toward an estimated $1.3 billion in improvements on the corridor, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.
“This $10 million grant is a big step forward for this project,” Gov. Bill Ritter said in a news release.
Congressman Jared Polis added in a separate release, “This funding will expand the U.S. 36 Corridor into a model for forward-thinking, sustainable transportation policy that the country will follow.”
