The latest offering from EA, the widely anticipated SimCity, had “one of the worst launches of all time,” writes Peter Bright in a review. And despite a few bright spots, there are lots of flaws in the latest in the well-loved series.
The greatest flaw in the game, Bright writes (in a review co-written by Kyle Orland), is the lack of options in transportation. Past SimCity games have included highways of various types and subways; SimCity, intended as a reboot of the franchise, includes neither.
The result is a game in which the player feels hamstrung. Considering the freedom of past SimCity games, this one is a step backward.
