Stage Six of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge will take racers through Boulder Saturday, Aug. 25. The city predicts more than 100,000 spectators will line city streets to watch the race.
Starting Friday, those roads will begin to close. The city urges residents to plan ahead, allow for extra time and be aware of road closures. Below is a full run-down of closed streets and other regulations for the weekend of Aug. 24-26.
Friday’s Street Closures
Pearl Street: Closed from 15th to 20th, starting at noon.
16th, 17th, 18th and 19th streets: Closed for half a block on each side of Pearl Street, starting at noon.
Baseline Road: Closed at 6th Street, starting at 5 p.m.
Drivers can still access the public parking garage at Pearl Street and 15th Street.
Saturday’s Street Closures
Pearl Street: Closure will extend from 15th Street to Folsom Avenue, starting at 6 a.m.
17th Street: Closed
from Canyon Boulevard to Spruce Street “the entire day.” Cars can cross
17th at only one intersection: Walnut Avenue. Canyon, Pearl and Spruce
intersections will be closed.
Spruce Street: Closed
from Broadway to 17th Street, also for “the entire day.” Southbound
traffic can cross Spruce on 14th Street. Local traffic can cross at
16th. Other intersections will be closed.
Baseline Road:
Westbound lanes will be closed from Broadway to the city limits, except
for local traffic at the intersection of Broadway and Baseline.
20th Street: Closed between Baseline and Cascade Avenue starting at 10 a.m.
In addition to these
full-time street closures, there will be periodic closures of roadways
along the USA Pro Cycling race route as riders and the caravan pass by.
These closures will typically take between 15 and 45 minutes. Estimated

Flagstaff
Friday, Aug. 24
5 a.m.: No parking along Flagstaff Road from 6th Street to Bison Drive.
5 p.m.: No public access to the Flagstaff open space areas. This includes all property and trails west of 6th Street, north of Gregory Canyon (including the Gregory Canyon trail), south of Boulder Canyon and east of Chapman Drive.
5 p.m.: The only vehicles allowed on Flagstaff Road will be for local residents and race related traffic, from 6th Street to Bison Drive.
Saturday, Aug. 25
7 a.m.: The public may begin accessing the Flagstaff area on foot using the Viewpoint Trail and by foot or bike
using Flagstaff Road. No bikes north of Realization Point on Summit Road. Bike corrals will be
available along Flagstaff Road. No dogs, no tents, no canopies allowed. Folding chairs and “personally held umbrellas” are OK.
After the race, spectators will be allowed to use designated portions of
the Flagstaff Trail along with the Viewpoint Trail and
Flagstaff Road.
Main Boulder Public Library
Closed Saturday, Aug. 25. Branch libraries will be open regular Saturday hours.
Chautauqua Park
Chautauqua will be open, but no public parking will be available “anywhere within the Chautauqua area.” Chautauqua’s dining hall will be open.
The Regional Transportation District (RTD) will increase bus service to Boulder before the stage begins, and the HOP will provide free bus service within Boulder on Aug. 25. Service will be doubled for RTD’s BV route and on the BOLT to Longmont. RTD route information is available at RTD’s website.
