NITRO FEST RETURNS

The second year of Left Hand Brewing’s Nitro Fest is coming Nov. 14 from 6-10 p.m. at Longmont’s Roosevelt Park.

Nitro Fest is the only event in the country that honors exclusively nitrogenated beer, and Left Hand is bringing together 39 craft breweries from around the country to participate. Participating breweries include Ballast Point, Founders, Dogfish Head, Firestone Walker, Victory and more.

The big draw of the event is the opportunity to try unique nitro beers that have never been and may never be served nitrogenated again.

The fest will also include fire dancers, stilt walkers, aerial artists, music and local food. Guests are encouraged to dress in their best cocktail attire for the event. Tickets are $50 for general admission, available at www.lefthandbrewing.com.

PUMPKIN DINNER ON HALLOWEEN NIGHT

If you’re not slinging candy from your doorstep this Halloween, you might want to head up to Settembre Cellars for a unique wine pairing dinner. Farmer Girl, a local farm dinner host, and Settembre, a Boulder winery, are teaming up again for their annual Pumpkin Dinner on Saturday, Oct. 31 at the winery’s North Boulder shop.

Farmer Girl Chef Tim Payne will be serving a seasonal, locally sourced and sustainable harvest dinner to pair with Settembre’s wide range of wines. The event will run from 7-10 p.m. and will include four courses for $85 per person. Wine is included in the price.

BLACKBELLY MARKET EXPANDING

Blackbelly has been a much-welcomed addition to the Boulder dining scene since opening last year. Their array of raw, cured and cooked meats has attracted national attention.

So it’s good news that they’ll be taking over the vacant space next door to them — formerly a donut shop — and expanding their popular butcher counter into a full butcher shop. The expansion allows Blackbelly to offer more fresh cuts, sausages and cured meats. They’ll also dive deep into pickles, cheeses and other similar items.

And, if you’ve had trouble getting a reservation there, you’ll be happy to know the new space will allow more seating for breakfast and lunch services. Early 2016 is the estimated date for the completion of the renovation.

SUSHI ZANMAI: 30 YEARS OF GOODNESS

Boulder’s Sushi Zanmai celebrated 30 years in business this month with a rip-roaring party at Boulder Theater. Owner Nao San spoke about the ups and downs of running a sushi business for three decades. Fans, diners, staff past and present and fans of Sushi Zanmai all stopped by to celebrate the milestone.

POTIONS FROM SHINE

The triplets that run Shine Restaurant and Gathering Place, Jill, Jennifer and Jessica Emich, announced that on Nov. 1, they’ll be selling their Shine Potions across Boulder County in 12- and 32-ounce bottles.

Shine has made their potions since 2013, combining organic juices, herbs, flowers and vibrational essences. Vibrational essences are “water that has been imprinted with an energetic ‘signature’ from a particular place or thing such as flowers, gemstones, sound and even stories, to coax out a specific state of being such as laughter, energy and happiness.”

There will be several potions available, like the “fairy bubbles,” a mix that includes the flower essence of hidden fairy groves, rose quartz gemstone essence, the story essence of Peter Pan, and the sound frequencies of baby laughter; and also honey, pomegranate juice, lemon juice, hibiscus and filtered water.

So if Halloween gets you itching for potions this year, keep an eye out for Shine’s.
