Ski season is here. Rejoice and be glad.
Arapahoe Basin Ski Area (A-Basin) has announced that it will open Sunday, Oct. 13, winning the race to open first — barring an eleventh-hour surprise from Copper Mountain or the dark horse, Wolf Creek.
“Early-season snow, low temperatures and snowmaking upgrades allowed A-Basin to open four days earlier than last season,” writes A-Basin Marketing and Communications Manager Adrienne Saia Isaac in a press release.
The Black Mountain Express lift will start at 8:30 a.m. to shuttle guests to the top of the intermediate High Noon trail at mid-mountain.
“This is a very exciting time for us, and all of Colorado,” said Alan Henceroth, Arapahoe Basin Vice President and COO. “We’ve had tremendous early season snowmaking and natural snow, and we can’t wait to kick off the 2013-14 ski and ride season.”
The ski area will be renting skis and snowboards, and the Black Mountain Lodge and A-Frame will be open for dining.
Lift tickets can be purchased in advance at tickets.arapahoebasin.com. Through Dec. 20, adult (ages 19-59) full-day tickets are $67, youth (ages 15-18) window tickets are $55 and child (ages 6-14) window tickets are $32.
