The Unreasonable Institute is back for its second year,
offering 27 select entrepreneurs the opportunity to launch their ideas for
financially self-sustaining and globally reaching ventures that work to serve
the needs of others.
Organized by a group of CU graduates in 2010, the
Unreasonable Institute selects young entrepreneurs who are working on globally
significant social or environmental projects to be a part of their annual
summer institute in Boulder, according to their website.
The kick-off for this summer’s institute was held in the
Wolf Law Building at CU on June 16. The program will continue for a six-week
period, during which the fellows will live and eat together while being
mentored by 60 experienced entrepreneurs and receiving legal advice and ideas
on design consulting.
This year’s fellows include Anne Githuku-Shongwe, whose
venture out of sub-Saharan Africa aims to transform the area through digital
media, and Piyush Jaju of Kolkata, India, who is working to provide complete

In addition to the entrepreneurial advice given by the
mentors at the institute, the fellows will be connected with the Unreasonable
Institute’s capital partners, for potential funding relationships at the onset
and throughout the duration of their ventures. This year’s capital partners
include the Grassroots Business Fund and LGT Venture Philanthropy.
