Tickets for the Fourmile Fire benefit concert at the 1stBank Center on Oct. 9 went on sale Tuesday at 10 a.m. and sold out at 10:02 a.m. The “Fourmile Canyon Revival” sold all of its tickets almost immediately when they went on sale and raised more than $300,000 for those affected by the fire.
The four members of jam band legends Phish, plus some prominent Boulder area bands, will play the benefit for the Boulder Mountain Fire Relief Fund on Saturday, Oct. 9 at the 1stBank Center in Broomfield.
The String Cheese Incident, Big Head Todd & the Monsters, Yonder Mountain String Band, and Vince Herman and Drew Emmitt of Leftover Salmon will join the Phish members.
For Adam Aijala, guitarist for Yonder Mountain String Band, the decision to play the show was a no-brainer.
“Obviously, some of us live in the mountains — my wife and I have lived in the mountains for 10 years, and as any area when there’s some sort of disaster, the local community always tends to get together and help in any way. and that was pretty much one the first thoughts we had when the fire was still burning,” Aijala says. “The idea of doing a benefit was pretty much right off the bat.
“Shit, if this thing sells out, we could be netting a quarter million dollars, that could help a ton of people. Even if just for clothes, hotels in the meantime … The band is obviously behind it right from the beginning.”
%uFFFDAijala also added that there is a slight possibility of collaboration between the many musicians gathered for the event. He said such a collaboration would be “be hell for the guy doing the sound,” but that the musicians would most likely look forward to it.
All proceeds will go to the Boulder Mountain Fire Relief Fund which supports the volunteer fire departments and burn area residents that were impacted by the fire.
