NASA will try to launch Endeavour again Monday

ORLANDO — Unacceptable launch weather conditions scrubbed Sunday morning’s planned launch of space shuttle Endeavour. NASA officials report they will try again Monday, with a launch attempt scheduled for 4:14 a.m. EST.

Sunday morning weather conditions were forecast as a
60 percent chance of acceptable launch conditions. Low level clouds
moved in to the area, creating a hazardous condition for the space
shuttle in case an issue during launch would cause a “return to landing
site.” Low level cloud cover would make it very hard for Endeavour to
find its way back to the shuttle landing facility here at Kennedy Space Center.

Shuttle launch director Michael Leinbach said he made the call because of the dynamic nature of the weather,
with conditions cycling between ‘green’ and ‘red’ every few minutes.
