TV producer is arrested in wife’s Cancun slaying

LOS ANGELES — Federal authorities Tuesday arrested a TV producer accused of killing his wife at a Cancun, Mexico, resort earlier this year.

Sources with knowledge of the case said that reality TV producer Bruce Beresford Redman was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon by U.S. Marshals and FBI agents at his Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.,
home, five months after Mexican authorities accused him of killing his
wife. The sources said he was home alone at the time and offered no
resistance.

Monica Beresford Redman’s body was found April 8 in a septic tank at the luxury hotel where the couple was staying in Cancun. Family members have said that she and her husband had gone to Mexico in an effort to reconcile their troubled marriage. Mexican officials said she died of “asphyxia by suffocation.”

Beresford Redman has repeatedly denied that he had
anything to do with his wife’s death. He has not said whether he would
fight extradition, which could take months or even years.

He is scheduled to appear Wednesday in U.S. District Court in downtown Los Angeles.
