The 7th annual Mark Vann Foundation Holiday Benefit Concert
will be held on Saturday, Dec. 5, at Boulder Theater, and Island attire is
encouraged. This year’s concert will feature Great American Taxi and Friends,
Fuforquestra, Keith Mosley of String Cheese Incident, Elephant Revival, Tim
Carbone of Railroad Earth, and the Black Swan Singers. There will be a few
surprises and special guests, as well.
The Mark Vann Foundation honors Mark Vann, who died of
cancer on March 4, 2002, at the age of 39. The founding banjo player of
Leftover Salmon, Vann lived by the motto of “Go Big!” and applied this motto to
both playing music and his willingness to offer his time and knowledge to teach
anybody who wanted to learn. The foundation was created to continue the spirit
of joy, gratitude, and generosity that Vann embodied.
The foundation primary mission is to help community based
nonprofit organizations to bring bringing light, love and laughter into the
lives of those in need through nature, music and the arts; and to support those
who are enacting positive change within their own communities.
This year the event will directly benefit There With Care
(www.therewithcare.org), which provides a range of support services to children
and families facing critical illness, and RSVP-Boulder County
(www.rsvpboulder.org), which provides help and support to senior citizens and
disabled adults living in poverty. Tickets are $20.
There will also be a VIP tickets available for a pre-show
VIP party. There are a limited number of these tickets, which includes the
party, food, drinks, a chance to mingle with the artists and special reserved
seating (for a limited time). These tickets can be purchased at the Boulder
Theater and are $125.
There will be an art sale and silent auction as well.
Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the concert starts at 8.
