The second annual Boulder Valley Beer Fest takes place in conjunction with the Town of Superior’s annual Chili Fest on Saturday, Sept. 12 from 2-6:30 p.m. The event will be held at the beautiful Superior Community Park, located at 1350 Coalton Road in Superior.
Approximately 25 local breweries are serving unlimited 3-ounce pours for fest-goers.
“We strive to have a good mix of well-established breweries as well as new, smaller breweries as that’s what our participants are looking for,” says Brad Lesch, chair of the Boulder Valley Beer Fest Committee for the Rotary Club of Boulder Valley.
“We received overwhelming positive feedback from our brewers last year who appreciated being able to interact directly with participants and talk in depth about the beer.”
Some of the Boulderarea breweries in attendance include Upslope Brewing Co., Boulder Beer, FATE Brewing Co., Front Range Brewing Co., Odd13 Brewing, Twisted Pine Brewing Co., Crystal Springs Brewing Co., Wild Woods Brewery and Asher Brewing Co.
Admission is $30 in advance or $35 at the gate the day of the fest, and it includes unlimited beer sampling in a souvenir mug to take home. Breweries will stop serving beer at 6 p.m.
If you’re looking to enhance your experience, consider the limited availability VIP tickets ($55 in advance, $60 at the gate), sponsored by Land Rover Flatirons. This includes early entry to the festivities, special release beers that will not be available to the general admission, wine and food.
Jason Larson Band is playing blues funk and soul from 2-4 p.m., and Face will be performing a cappella from 4-6 p.m. for your listening pleasure.
If you’re attending the beer part, you can also purchase a tasting kit for the Chili Fest for $5. Chili Fest patrons can purchase a glass of beer for $5. The chili celebration encompasses the International Chili Society’s Regional Cook-off and a People’s Choice competition between restaurants. All samples are on a first-come basis, so get there early. In addition to the chili, food trucks will be serving a variety of options as well.
It’s also recommended that you keep in mind the event takes place on both grass and hard surfaces, so make a comfortable shoe choice. A hat and sunscreen are recommended, and unless they’re a service pet, please leave your furry friends at home. Parking is limited, and attendees are encouraged to walk or bike.
All net proceeds from the event will be used by the Rotary Club to support ongoing local and international service projects. The Rotary Club of Boulder Valley has contributed more than $800,000 to the community and internationally.
