A few jerseys have already been won in this year’s USA Pro
Challenge. But the yellow jersey isn’t one of them.
With a dash to the finish in downtown Fort Collins, rider
Peter Sagan (Cannondale) laid claim to the green jersey for Sprint Leader,
while Matt Cooke won King of the Mountain jersey two stages ago.
Sagan overtook Australian rider Rory Sutherland (Saxo-Tinkoff)
in the final half-mile of the race, as cyclists swarmed past the slightly
flagging Sutherland. After Sagan in the stage came Luka Mezgec (Argos-Shimano)
and Greg van Avermaet (BMC). Sutherland finished seventh.
The top 10 riders overall all finished in the peloton,
leaving the standings unchanged from yesterday. As riders enter the final stage
tomorrow, a circuit race sprint through the streets of Denver, this year’s winner
is not locked down. Tejay van Garderen (BMC) holds a lead of 1:30 over teammate
Mathias Frank, with Boulder’s Tom Danielson (Garmin-Sharp) in third.

Tomorrow’s stage begins in Denver at 1 p.m.
