Caffè Sole has been doing great work during the pandemic, raising funds from the community in order to prepare and deliver 3,400 meals to the Sister Carmen Community Center. It’s a mutually beneficial arrangement, as the community donations allowed Caffè Sole to keep its doors open while those in need got meals. About these meals — we chose the black bean burger from the restaurant’s menu of sandwiches, salads and more on a recent visit. Served on a pressed brioche bun, the vegan burger puts other plant-based substitutes to shame with its earthy flavor and substantial chew. The salsa roja, pico de gallo, avocado and mixed greens on top are fresh and vibrant.
