As of Sept. 26, Boulder
police officers are training at Tom Watson Park from noon until 10 p.m. The
park is open to the public, but there is limited access to the parking lot.
Park visitors are allowed to park along the frontage road and at Coot Lake.
Officers are training in the
parking lot with a “skid car.” The purpose is to give space for them to
practice their driving skills in simulated adverse weather conditions. A
driving instructor operates the car’s hydraulic system with a keypad that can
cause the car to skid as if they were on a wet or icy road.
The training will end on
Sept. 30.
