Aliens

Saturday, July 26: Boulder Outdoor Cinema presents ‘Aliens.’ 7 p.m. Boulder Outdoor Cinema 1750 13th St., Boulder, 855- 262-9324.

Boulder Outdoor Cinema mostly shows its films at night. Mostly. And the flick of choice this weekend is Aliens, James Cameron’s 1986 sequel to the Ridley Scott film that did for space what Jaws did for water: fill it with sharp teeth and impending dread.

In said film, intrepid astronaut Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) has survived the trip back home after her battle with the alien in the first film, but rather than mark that spot on the star chart with “here there be dragons,” the giant evil mining company she works for has set up a colony on the same planet she worked so hard to escape from. After communications are cut off, Ripley is sent back to planet hell in order to advise a team of Marines and a corporate weasel played by Paul Reiser, almost all of whom die horrible, wonderfully cinematic deaths.
